Reasons as to why plantations developed in the South
1. The geography of the South favored plantations due to presence of swampy areas, forests, long rivers, fertile soils and hilly coastal plains.
2.The Sourthen colonies concentrated in developing plantations hence leading to their development.
3. The climatic conditions of the South were ideal for plantations due to hot humid summers and mild winters which supported crops throughout the year.
4.There was adequate and cheap labor provided by the slaves.
